Why was this series of books and tapes about Singing This We Believe on Church of God Declaration of Faith written?
In 1977, the Women’s Ministry Department of the Church of God published a Bible doctrine course on our "Declaration of Faith for Children" condensing them into ten Bible lessons. At that time the Department asked Irma to write a theme song for each lesson. The following morning she awoke from her dream and was singing, “This We Believe.” With a grateful heart she wrote it down.
A few years ago, Irma received a telephone call from Wanda LeRoy saying, “Doug [Dr. Douglas LeRoy, director of Church of God World Missions] and I are in Hawaii and on our way to the camp meeting where he is preaching the evening services. On the first evening he taught the whole congregation to sing Article One, ‘This We Believe: In the Verbal Inspiration of the Bible.’ Last evening he taught them to sing Article Two. Would you remind me how the melody goes to Article Three so he can teach the congregation to sing it in the service? They love learning to sing our Faith.” Irma reminded Wanda that Article Three was condensed to follow the theme of the Bible lesson and was not verbatim like the first and second.
After her conversation with Wanda, Irma could not get away from the thought that someone needed to set all our Declaration of Faith to music. Thus, the process began. She used several of the songs from the first edition, added signing instructions and now offers the third edition of Singing and Signing This We Believe.
Singing and Signing This We Believe of the fourteen Articles on Church of God Declaration of Faith have been set to music. These basic Bible truths are now available to you and to our children on DVD, in SONGBOOK, and on CD. These are truths of the Bible that we all want our children to learn from our Pentecostal heritage. What better way to train our children than by hearing and seeing and doing?
We learn by hearing; we learn even more by hearing and seeing; we learn best by hearing and seeing and doing. What we hear and see and do, we can remember for a lifetime.
Singing and Signing This We Believe is a resource—a threefold “chord” or triad of invaluable truths. Put them into the hands of our children and use them for teaching. Our children will be enriched by memorizing the Bible verses and by knowing Singing and Signing This We Believe on Church of God Declaration of Faith.

Grandma Said is a book with CD written by Irma Williams of stories from her childhood told by Ruth W. Brinkley. Each chapter is a read-along, sing-along that teaches time-tested truths. At the end of each chapter is a song to reinforce the lesson learning. Irma believes if you want a child to learn something, set it to music. The Grandma Said book and CD are teaching tools that come from a rich heritage. Tucked inside each story is a message that needs to be taught to our children in order to form their character.
